The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has sentenced Anurag Pramod Murarka, a 30-year-old Indian national, to 121 months in prison for his involvement in a cryptocurrency money laundering scheme. Murarka laundered $20 million worth of cryptocurrencies through the darknet and the international hawala network. Operating under aliases on the darknet, he facilitated the laundering of cryptocurrency proceeds linked to criminal activities, including guiding drug mafia and hackers to deposit funds obtained illegally.
